The Chicago
Video Project (CVP) brings the power
of professional video production to advocacy groups,
community development organizations, labor unions, foundations,
and others across the country working to promote social
and economic justice.
Social Change and Video
Sophisticated communications technology has an enormous influence
in today’s policy-making arena. Without access to state-of-the-art
communications resources, advocacy and social-change groups cannot
fully participate in forums where public opinion and public policy
are made. Video technology is a potent tool for redressing this
imbalance. It brings low- and moderate-income people into the
debate, helping them tell their stories in a way that is more
compelling than the written word or live presentation. By leveling
the techno-political communications playing field, video gives
voice to the concerns of ordinary people and strengthens the
foundation of our democracy.
